Symposium Introduction
Competition - a form of negative relationships between species.
Charles Darwin thought the competition one of the most important parts of the struggle for
existence, which plays a major role in the evolution of species. The competition - this
relationship that emerged between species with similar ecological
requirements. When these species occur together, each of them is in
disadvantage because the presence of another reduces the possibility of
the capture of resources, shelters and other means of livelihood, which
has habitat. Competition - the only form of environmental
relations which affect both the interacting partners.
Forms of competitive interaction may be very diverse: from direct
physical struggle to co-existence. Nevertheless, sooner or later
competitor displaces the other.
The reasons for the displacement of one species by another may be different. In plants
suppression of competition is a result of interception of nutrients
and soil moisture, root system and sunlight - sheet apparatus
and as a result of highly toxic compounds.
In animals, there are cases of direct attack of one species to another
competition. For example, larvae and egg parasites diachasoma tryonhi opius
humilis, found themselves in a host egg, come together to fight and
kill the opponent before you start eating.
